THE SAMUEL PROJECT

This is a heartwarming story of an outcast teen who connects with his isolated grandfather Samuel (played by Hal Linden) when he makes him the subject of an animated art project for school. The high school senior discovers that his grandpa, a Jewish dry cleaner, has a surprising past. Winner Audience Award (Best Narrative Feature) 2018 Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, Winner Award for Outstanding Film - Honolulu Jewish Film Festival 2019.  Suitable for students 7th grade and up.  Director: Marc Fusco, 2017 USA, 92 Minutes, English,   Rated PG 13.

THE INVISIBLES

In June 1943, Germany, infamously declared Berlin Judenfrei - “free of Jews.” But at that moment there were still 7000 Jews living in the capital: hiding and protected by courageous Berliners, while desperately trying to avoid deportation. The Invisibles depicts the experiences of four young adult survivors (one a teenager), interweaving their testimony with highly accomplished dramatizations, an unusual hybrid approach that brings edge-of-the-seat suspense to their years spent underground.  Director: Claus Rafle, 2017 Germany, 100 Minutes, German (with English subtitles)
