Federation Annual Campaigns Promote...
1. World Rescue and Relief
Lifesaving food and health care for Jewish elderly living in Eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Union through our directed funding to the Joint Distribution Committee, an overseas agency receiving money from our campaign. This agency does its work worldwide in 62 countries, wherever there are Jewish communities at risk.
2. Caring for the Vulnerable
In Israel, on behalf of the Jewish Agency for Israel, the main social service agency offering all social service needs for incoming immigrants to Israel including resettlement, vocational training, housing, education, language and culture. The Jewish Agency also aids individuals and families who have been the victims of terrorist acts in Israel.
3. Jewish Spiritual Connection for our Jewish Community
Jewish Day School education and continuity building through the Solomon Schechter Day School and Jewish identity and camping experiences for children attending Camp Hadar, one of Federation’s auxiliary programs
Subsidized trips to Israel for our Merrimack Valley Jewish youth through the Gift of Israel program
Community sponsored programs designed for awareness to Jewish life cycle issues, such as First Light, our community celebration of Chanukah, the Women’s Community Intergenerational Passover Seder and Concert at the Camp.
Jewish adult education programming in conjunction with our synagogues in the valley, Merrimack College Center for the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations and Hebrew College, Boston regarding the Me’ah program.
Support towards the Hillel University system through UMASS Amherst creating a Jewish presence on our state campus.
Support towards Rekindle Shabbat, a community program offering to host individuals and families and their invited friends the opportunity to conduct and usher in the Sabbath at their homes.
4. Support of our Jewish elderly in the Merrimack Valley
Assisting the Merrimack Valley Jewish Seniors, a Jewish senior organization that dedicates its time and effort in delivering food, magazines and clothing to our Jewish elderly nursing home residents in the valley.
5. Support towards Jewish singles in the Merrimack Valley
Assisting the North of Boston Jewish Singles with monetary support towards seminar programs designed to help Jewish singles cope with their status, including communication, dealing with various aspects of their lives such as relationships, finances and long term planning.
6. Community Relations in the Merrimack Valley
Support of programming at Merrimack College’s Center for the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations. Support towards the Anti-Defamation League of New England in its work to combat prejudice and hate crimes against all minorities.
