Who We Are...
The Merrimack Valley Jewish Federation is the focal point of our Jewish community. As our central communal organization, it is dedicated to preserving and enriching Jewish life in the Merrimack Valley, and perpetuating our identity with the State of Israel. We are the only communal body with representation from almost every formal Jewish organization in the valley, large and small, religious and secular, social, political, cultural and educational. Serving the townships of Andover, North Andover, Lawrence, Lowell, Chelmsford, Haverhill, Tewksbury and 22 surrounding communities, the Federation conducts an annual Federation UJA Campaign for local and overseas needs and promotes Jewish programming in the Merrimack Valley.
Federation, as the central communal organization is the connection to other Jewish communities and the broader Jewish agenda throughout the world.
Through the United Jewish Communities, the Merrimack Valley Jewish Federation is the connection to over 800 other Jewish communities across the continent.
The Federation is connected to the State of Israel in a number of ways, but primarily through the Combined Jewish Appeal that provides funding through United Jewish Communities directed to the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Joint Distribution Committee, which provides worldwide social service programs to over 60 countries.
